Although it is considered a desert environment, Moab does get occasional rainstorms throughout the year. Sometimes, a late afternoon summertime thunderstorm will bring much-needed moisture and cooler temperatures. Tuesday afternoon, a 10-minute cloudburst drenched downtown Moab, and Mary took this photo looking out the front window of the DHC U.S. Office.

Jeff's daughter Brooklyn is spending this week at Trefoil Ranch Girl Scout Camp in the shady mountains up Provo Canyon, about three hours away from Moab. This is Brooklyn's second year attending the camp, which attracts Girl Scouts aged 8-18 from all around Utah. Coincidentally, more than two decades ago, Technica Pacifica general manager Sam used to be the on-site maintenance manager at Trefoil Ranch. The word "trefoil" comes from the fleur-de-lis shaped symbol used in the logo of the Girl Scout organization.

After several years of near-drought conditions, Ken's Lake, a small reservoir south of Moab, is finally filled to capacity again (the first time since 1998). Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake, but many people have had good luck fishing from the shore. Jeff and two of his daughters went fishing last night and brought home five rainbow trout, which they then cooked in a frying pan for supper.
